Kaliber Chemicals Limited (KalChem), headquartered in Calgary, Alberta is seeking a skilled and experienced Quality Control Chemist to join our team in Lloydminster, AB and surrounding areas. We are looking to fill this role in Q4 – 2024. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and managing the quality control program for our operations in Lloydminster. The ideal candidate will have experience in quality control positions, as well as experience working in the oil and gas industry.
Kaliber Chemicals is an Alberta-based developer, manufacturer and distributor of specialty chemicals focusing on the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin. We supply unique, cost-effective chemical solutions for wholesale distribution and retail purchase in Western Canada. Specializing in biodegradable, safer to handle, economical product offerings serving the petroleum, industrial, agriculture, and water treatment sectors.
Position Specific Accountabilities:
- Evaluate products before, during, and after production.
- Clean, maintain, and store testing tools and equipment.
- Create thorough reports on tests and findings, enter information into corporate software.
- Provide technical support, expertise, and suggest improvements to Account Managers.
- Develop and execute product Testing & Development Programs, chemical processes, and technologies.
- Provide leadership and consultation to Account Managers on the technical aspects of proposed product/service solutions for each individual client.
- Create and conduct corporate presentations to clients alongside account representatives.
- Provide solution recommendations to clients and lead field trials for new applications and clients.
- Conduct field quality control as required.
- Develop relationships with operators in the field and help with training on our products.
- Function as a liaison between the client and the product development initiatives to help drive product innovation and quality.
- Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
- Track inventory and assist with ordering of chemicals and shipments.
Position Specific Requirements:
- Completion of a degree or diploma in chemistry, biology, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing lab.
- 3-5 years of oil and gas technical sales or field sales support experience.
- High computer application literacy (including Microsoft Office Suite, and ability to learn internal business systems).
- Prior experience that demonstrates a strong work ethic and ability to multitask.
- History of working in a field that required autonomy and self-motivation.
- Water treatment or specialty chemical industry experience.
- Able to author reports on lab results.
- Account leadership experience that includes calling on multilevel plant or facilities management to accomplish company goals.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong relationships with all stakeholders of our organization.
- Strong business acumen.
